Litigation & Investigations

We improve outcomes for our instructing and their respective clients in terms of the accuracy, cost-effectiveness and efficiency of any legal project.

We’re a core team of experienced litigators, providing “law firm quality” eDisclosure, document review and litigation support services to firms and in-house teams.

We bridge the IT/legal divide, to ensure that nothing is lost in translation as is so often the case on these matters.

As experienced litigators, we ensure that our services are accurate and delivered to agreed deadlines and budgets. We also know how to make the experience as frictionless as possible for the instructing lawyers, and how to provide valuable insights to help with review performance and factual understanding.

Law firms who work with us, tend to instruct us again and again.

  1. Our key differentiator is that we provide these services using experienced lawyers. We supply fully formed review teams headed by former senior litigators and drawing on a pool of experienced current and former lawyers, typically with 5-10 years’ PQE.
  2. Our carefully selected freelancers are not generally available via traditional interim lawyer and paralegal providers. They are smart, hard-working and reliable. We have seen members of our pool work alongside reviewers in the general market and Jandr reviewers work faster and more accurately. They also deliver valuable insights to the instructing lawyers, including in relation to factual matters and in ways to streamline or improve the review. To give a recent example of the latter, the Jandr team flagged that some relevant documents contained non-relevant, highly sensitive commercial information, leading the instructing lawyers to make a decision to apply redactions.
  3. We understand the legal objective giving rise to the task, the required quality standard and how to make the service as frictionless as possible for the instructing lawyers. We also know what the review platforms can and cannot do, and how best to combine human effort and tech functionality to achieve the desired outcomes: accurate and timely reviews at a reasonable and predictable cost.
  4. We work on matters of any size, but out typical instruction is on matters requiring the review of around 100,000 documents. We have established and honed processes for getting reviewers up to speed and for making sure that the entire Jandr team is fully “calibrated”, with input from the instructing lawyers.
  5. We have provisioned and managed remote review teams ranging in size from 2 to 22 and we have procedures for ensuring in-office levels of collaboration and consistency.

Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs)

DSARs are a typical first salvo in an employment dispute. They pose a serious challenge for the employer: the cost of complying with the DSAR might be so high as to prompt an early settlement, irrespective of the merits of the claim.

We help companies to prepare compliant respones to DSARs, to a law firm standard but at a fraction of the law firm cost.

On a recent DSAR, we received 260k documents (c. 160GB of data) from the client as being potentially responsive to the wide ranging request by a former director. Through a combination of processing, deduplication, search filters and tested assumptions, we identified just under 5,000 documents for human review. The total charge for the Everlaw platform and administration, consultancy and project manage, review and response preparation was less than £10,000. In contrast, the client would have been looking at many multiples of this if a law firm had been used in our place.
